Holiday gifts!
One of the holiday gifts I got was a rawhide that was a foot long and almost as big as me. It took me a whole week to finish it! It was exciting, but now I'm getting nervous, because mom and dad have these big suitcases out everywhere....

Santa was scary!
This weekend we went to look at homes decorated for the holidays, and I mostly liked that, because I got to sleep in the back seat between mom and dad. At one house, we got out, and mom brought me near this scary guy she called Santa Claus. I didn't trust him, so I growled and barked a lot. Dad took pictures on his phone, and I'm all blurry because I was trying to get out of there.

Look... I'm a reindeer!
So yesterday, Dad made the mistake of telling Mom she could get me some Christmas presents from the pet store. That place is awesome. Squeaky toys EVERYWHERE. Anyway, I got some sweet stuff, except for these silly things Mom put on my head at the airport yesterday. I met Dad's boss, and he snagged this photo for us. He had a blazer on.

Thanksgiving Weekend
I stayed with Grandma and Grandpa over the long weekend, and Aunt Karina came and brought her cat Rummy. I kept trying to play nicely with Rummy, but she didn't want to play with me. These are pictures of the adults trying to make us get along. Notice how polite I am, and how disinterested Rummy is? I had fun over the weekend anyways, and tried not to be too much trouble!

getting "fixed"?!
I'm not really sure what happened, but I stayed at the vet over the weekend, and while I was there, they did more surgery, put a cone back on me, and now I feel like less of a man. Mom calls it getting me "fixed" but I don't know what needed fixing. I am doing ok with the cone now, having spent so much time with it over recent months, but anytime I start to lick myself, mom gives me something to distract me.

my first report card
Mom and dad left me alone for my first time today at the Wag Hotel. I got a large room for the day, and they gave me my first swimming lesson and then a bath. My report card from the day shows that I was well behaved, not at all stressed by being away from mom and dad, and I ate so much I could have eaten a truck! Overall, it was a pretty fun day for me, even if I didn't get the blueberry facial.

nap time
This is me asleep. Mom says she loves it when I'm asleep, because then I don't bark. I am doing better about sleeping through the night and not waking her up as often, so she likes that also. One thing I'm not sure about though is that apparently Halloween is coming up, and mom isn't sure if I should dress up as something. If I do, it'll probably just be putting on one of my jerseys and going as a sports fan, but what do you think? Post a reply!
toy retirement
Mom told me to say good-bye to these toys since she says they need to retire. I don't know what retiring is, but these are some of my favorite toys (as you can probably tell since they are so chewed up) so I hope retirement is a good thing for them. Plus, I have the pine cone that mom let me carry 3 blocks home and into the house, so that's my new favorite toy since it's LOTS of fun to chew.

Cone Probation
I was starting to find new and creative ways to express my frustration with the cone, such as regularly shredding the newspaper mom and dad put out for me to go to the bathroom on. Don't worry, I am mostly good at holding in until I am outside, so the newspaper was just lying there, waiting for me to destroy it. Anyways, on Saturday, I got put on cone probation, so as long as I don't bat at my eye too much, mom and dad keep the cone off, which is much better.

Couple updates
My ribbon the vet gave to hold my cone on wore through, so mom replaced it today with this kinda fashionable blue and brown striped ribbon. She thinks it looks really cute tied in a big bow. I mostly don't like that when I scratch, I don't think I can wear it down like the other ribbon. Also, I lost a couple teeth today, but mom said I shouldn't put pictures of them on my blog. Sorry.

I once had a cone ... THIS BIG
This cone is huge. Mom says the width of the cone is the length of my body. Anyway, I hate it. I guess it protects my eye, and I have to have it on for at least one more week, but possibly longer. It makes it hard to pick things up, I run into stuff, and the only good thing is that when I go on walks, I get to take it off. Which reminds me, one of my new favorite things is to run around at the park. Minimal exericse for mom and dad, maximum wearing out for me. Win-win.

Surgery update
The vet said my eye looks fine, but I can get my foot into the cone to scratch my eye, so I need a bigger cone. Since they didn't have one that fit well at this office, mom put a sock on my foot and tomorrow morning she's going to their main office to get me a bigger cone. At first, I treated my foot like it was limp, but once I realized I could put weight on it and the sock was just holding me back, I tried chewing the sock to get it off. I suppose a bigger cone might be better than the sock, but I dunno.

I like walks!
I get sooo excited whenever Mom or Dad get my leash out, because I like walks. The following list includes things I like to pick up in my mouth when I'm on a walk: rolly pollies, dirty napkins, plastic bags on the ground, cigarette butts, grass, and especially pine cones, which are one of my favorite things ever. Almost all of these get me yelled at, and I've gotten better about not picking as much up, but I'm still a sucker for rolly pollies and pinecones, both of which I picked up on my walk this afternoon!
This is a picture of me on a walk before I got the stupid plastic cone put on, which makes it way harder to pick these things up....

Weekend at home
Mom and dad stayed home all weekend to make sure I didn't scratch my eye at all. Dad did a bit of work, which was fine by me, since I got to lie next to him on the couch. And today, family came over, including 2 kids who played with me almost non-stop all day. It was a lot of fun to get so much attention, and I didn't have to bark for any of it, but I was pretty tired by the end. Those kids are exhausting!

Surgery's no fun
I'm still kinda groggy from the anesthesia, but the second surgery went ok. It hurt a lot more than the last time; you know it's never good when the doctor says it will hurt more. Anyways, mom and dad are being super annoying about not letting me get near my eye in any way. They took away my stuffed animal squirrel that I used to rub my eye. And they yell at me anytime I rub the side of my face against the inside of my cone. Hmph. I'll try to post a picture this weekend.

That's a great pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Whoa. Mom and Dad went on a day trip to half moon bay today. Apparently, they grow these huge orange things there. I dunno what it is, or what I am supposed to do with it, but it's way bigger than I am. I tried eating it, but it's hard. Mom seems REALLLY excited about it though. Apparently she loves pumpkins. I don't get it. On an unrelated note, we spent a lot of time watching football today. Oh, and i woke up at 4 AM this morning. It was great. Dad didn't seem so amused.

Naps - My favorite thing
So i'm not really supposed to, but today i took a nap on the adult furniture while dad was typing angrily on his laptop. Something about migration issues, blah blah blah. Anyway, i jumped up on the chair and caught some shuteye. This photo is also a sweet way to see my newly shaved head. Dad really likes it since he says i look like a springer now. Not sure what a springer is, but it might give me a personality disorder. Anyway, mom misses the moptop i used to be sporting. Maybe when uncle andy comes to visit, he can spike my hair.
Hey Chicago, what do you say?
Cubs are going to win today. OH YEAH!!!! I got a sweet cubs jersey. This is way better than that Chargers jersey, even if this one doesn't have my name on it. Dad and I watched the game today. It isn't looking good right now for our Cubbies, but I'm feeling pretty good in my "00" custom fit pet jersey. By the way, yesterday we went to puppy play group, and there was a bulldog named Aloha. All dad could think of the whole time was "And Aloha means goodbye". He says it's from Sportscenter. I really don't get how a bulldog can be from Sportscenter, but whatever.

Check out my haircut!!
So mom and dad took me to get my first hair cut on Union Street. They were pretty nice to me, and in addition to getting it cut, they gave me a bath and stuff. Since I usually have to do that in the bathtub, it was pretty sweet. That's my rawhide bone in the background. It's my fav.
Also, did you know that Friday was national Talk like a Pirate Day? It's true. Google it up. Dad wouldn't let me get a pirate shirt at the doggy boutique. Cuz it was expensive, yo. Arrrrrr......

duty call = nap
Mom told me to be quiet when she had to go to a "duty call" tonight. I don't know what she was worried about, since I just napped, but then when she got home sorta late at night for me, our neighbor Apollo (he's the first adult dog I played with) managed an escape and so he and I wanted to play. Mom called his mom on him, except now I'm super awake (even though it's almost midnight.) Anyways, Apollo's escape was kinda like this: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=4-3EyMPzMoo, except Apollo's all tan and fluffier.
football season
I didn't write much last week, because there was much concern about my eye. Apparently the stitches weren't right, so I still have the cone, plus I have to have more surgery in a couple weeks. It's really quite a bother, but grandma and grandpa came to play with me, so that was fun.
Plus, yesterday we got to watch football, and mom and dad got me my own San Diego Chargers jersey, which they took the cone off in order to put the jersey on. Dad sorta fell asleep while we were watching, but that's probably ok, since the Chargers ended up losing. Mom's team, the 49ers, ended up winning, so maybe soon I'll get a 49ers jersey.

no more puppy play group
And in case the cone itself wasn't bad enough, apparently I don't get to go to puppy play group while I have the cone on (for 2 weeks!) since another puppy might hit my eye. This is the St. Bernard puppy that was at the last play group. I briefly ventured over to meet him and the other big dogs, and then quickly ran back to the medium sized dog area where I usually hang out.
delayed recovery
I had to go back to the vet today, because apparently I'm one of the unlucky few dogs whose eye surgery isn't healing as quickly as it is supposed to. Over the weekend, I managed to get my back paw inside the cone to scratch at my face since it itched, but mom told on me to the vet today, so they gave me a bigger cone. Now, I hate the bigger cone even more than the old cone. This is me barking, which I do a lot now, to make clear just how much I hate the bigger cone.

What happened to me?!
I had surgery today. I don't really know what happened, since they gave me puppy drugs and anesthesia, but I do know it wasn't fun. And worst of all, I have another stupid cone on, which is supposed to stay on for 2 weeks! I HATE the cone! Maybe I'll post a picture later when I'm not so groggy.

I'll bark if want to
I've started barking again when I wake up at night, and unlike before, mom comes out and says to me "be quiet, you'll wake up the neighbors." I don't know what neighbors are, but I figure I'll bark if I want to; I just want to play for a bit and not be alone in the kitchen. As long as I get to play, I usually end up going back to sleep after an hour or so with mom muttering that it's not right to be awake at 3 in the morning.

What's surgery?
It was really hot this weekend, so I got to play in the shade outside, like in the grass in this picture. That part I liked.
Mom and dad say I have to have surgery soon on the thing in my right eye, which they call a cherry eye and say is common for my breed. I don't really know what they're talking about, but I think this surgery thing doesn't sound as much fun as chewing. I'll let you know Friday afternoon if I like surgery.

puppy play group
I just got back from my 3rd puppy play group. Mom says there were all kinds of puppies like a bulldog, a spinone italiano, a puggle, a couple labradors, and some mixed breeds. But all I cared about was this little, white maltese named Brooklyn. I kept trying to play with her, but for some reason she would tease me, and act like she wanted to play, but then get yippy when I would actually try to play with her. I don't get it. Girl puppies confuse me.....

my typical day
I came home on July 12, and since then, mom and dad have been very nice to me. They don't feed me quite as many treats as when I visit grandma and grandpa, but all in all, I like my life.
My typical day:
- 6:30 am - wake up , eat, play
- 8:30 am - mom leaves me alone to nap
- 12:30 pm - mom takes me out, more playing, more eating, and then more nap
- 5:00 pm - mom takes me out, more playing, more eating, and lots of chewing
- 7:00 pm - I start to go wild, and usually am given some cardboard to chew on. I like chewing. Sometimes at night I go for a walk, where I don't understand why everyone doesn't pet me.
- 9:30 pm - I start to go even more wild, because I tend to get fussy when I'm sleepy.
- 10:00 pm - I go to sleep.
